  1. One time I was asked to do something more than I thought I was capable of was the first time you told us to write a 300 word blog! I’ve never done such a thing and I thought if I even knew 300 words. In all the other years of school I was never asked to do a task with those requirements. Maybe a little homework assisngment here and there that took ten minutes but 300 words seemed out of this world to me and completely impossible to do. I realized It isn’t as hard as it sounds and doesn’t come out to that much of work. It sounds scarier and harder than it actually is. I thought it’d take hours and days to do but it takes me about 20 minutes to do at the most. I had to push myself to do it the first couple times and I realised it’s super easy. It doesn’t ask for as much as it sounds it would. I think pushing myself to the expatations required had a pretty good result. I believe some people don’t try to do it or make the slightest intentions of doing it because it sounds like so much work. A lot more work than it actually is. Espeically as an incoming freshman, most of us, majority of us never heard words of 300 blog. That was a whole new world to us and still new to some who haven’t made the efforts to even try. Every time we have a new blog which is now every other week than every week I push myself harder and harder to a new limit to improve my work. It was a whole new ball game but I’m use to the idea of it noeww and it doesn’t sound as scary!

  2. There are personal goals that are meant to be fulfilled. Everybody has to have a goal that they want to fulfill. I have plenty of them. You have goals that can be positive and negative. I hope none of you guys have negative goals. My top goal that I wanted to fulfill was football related. I was always the small kid and I didn’t think I would do well. As I arrived to practice one day I was feeling great because we could get our pads. Well lucky me they didn’t have enough equipment and I couldn’t play or practice. I was outrageous and I had to prove myself after missing about three games. I was devastated because I was a key factor to the team and I really wanted to play. My goal here was to start and I was successful and I started for the rest of the season. To gain my position I had to go against our best offensive lineman. He is one of our best players on the team. I gave him a hard time all day and the coach came up to me at the end of the day and asked a golden question. Are you ready for Friday? My jaw dropped and I realized I was starting and I was super anxious for Friday. After all the hard work and sweat I succeeded. Never stop believing in what you can achieve. Goals are set out to be fulfilled so never stop believing.

  3. In football practice, each week we earn our spots. Whether its for defensive spots or offensive spots. Whether its lineman or skills. We are all out there fighting for a starting spot. Now in the beginning of the season, I did not start in a spot. I was a back for a lineman. And that was it. I was unhappy with that position. I wanted to start. I wanted to be the first guys out on that grass. Ass the season progressed, I worked my butt off. I showed my coach that I could hit. I should him that I wouldn’t give up until I heard the whistle. And all of this paid off. I pushed my self and I earned a starting spot. It felt great to be on that starting lineup. Knowing that when that team is called, that im the one going out there along with the rest of the starters. I wanted a starting spot and I earned it. Hard work pays off in the end!

  4. A time where I thought I would not be able to active a goal was when I was first told that I had to run 5 miles for soccer. We had just come back from our summer vacation and I was not in shape. I kept on telling myself that ill push myself until I get those 5 miles in. I wasn’t the only one that wasn’t ready for this everyone of my teammates weren’t ready for a long run. I knew that if I were to do all the 5 miles the coach would see that I am in form and I do want to play soccer. I started of slow while all the others started of fast I knew even thoough im almost to being last that those kids will be behind me because they will get tired and soon stop and start walking while ill be in front of all of them. I was just right just like I said to myself too not push your self so hard in the first 3 miles because then I will not want keep on running. The middle of the 3rd mile I started seeing everyone slow down and start walking then I started to run much faster before I knew it I was in front of everyone and with the 4th mile just about to finish. I finished the 5 mile run that I thought I wouldn’t be able to do. The coach noticed what I had done and said too keep up that good attitude and the good work. Even thought I was really tired the words that came out of my coach’s mouth was all worth it.

  5. Some times life throws things at us that we can't predict or even expect. We let our minds take control of our body and tell ourselves we can't do it. When I started competition cheerleading for our school I knew it was going to be hard. Me and the other freshman were on the team as "alternates" this is a word we all know. Alternate means "one that substitutes for or alternates with another". In cheerleading terms it goes as one you fills in for the girl who didn't show up or quit or maybe even got kicked off. We were to compete as a medium team with 14 with 5 alternates. Me and my other freshman teammates worked so hard conditioned stretched and dedicated time and effort to prove our worthiness to be starters. Our coaches made the decision to make us a large team total of 19 just making it because if you go down to 18 then you become medium. We went to our first competition on November 11. It was a huge risk it was the only instate qualifier. If you qualify you go to nations in Florida. Our team took 4th and the opportunity to compete in Disney world, Orlando. We worked hard until on November 30th the board of education denied us the right to go. We were furious. How could all of our hard work and dedication go to waste. We emailed, called, and wrote letters speaking our minds and reasoning the right to be a part of a national competition. Our point was finally heard and crossed the minds of the board. We were granted permission and we couldn't be more thrilled. That next practice we had 4 girls skip. Next practice a girl got kicked off the team for failing 3 classes!!!!! The next 3 practices people were still missing and we haven't had a full practice since. This past Wednesday we were having an emergency practice that was mandatory because we were supposed to compete at Lacey high school on Saturday which we did not. One girl skipped to go to New York and another girl walked out in us for a silly reason. As of right now our season is questionable and nationals is practically impossible because the next qualifier is coming up very soon and we wouldn't have enough time to learn a brand new routine. Also we can't compete medium when we qualified large. The dedication of my teammates is somewhat questionable but mine isn't. I am so dedicated and ready to do my very best to help our team. All in all were faced with a challenge that were still in the process of over coming. All I know is that next year I will be at try outs ready to start all over again no madder what.

  6. There have been many times I was asked to do things I thought I was not capable of doing. It probably has happened to a lot of people. Well when I thought I was not capable of doing something I had to drive myself to do it. One thing that happens to every student every year in New Jersey is the NJ Ask. It is not that easy of a test. They put things on it that we have not learned yet. It is required that we take it though. Before we always take the test I get nervous. I always think that I am going to do bad. So when that happens I study some stuff for it. Instead of going to bed too late I go at a better time. This means I would not be to tired and then I could concentrate. In the morning I would also eat a good breakfast. I would not be hungry and then I would not be thinking of lunch the whole time. While this was all happening I set a goal for myself to do good on the test. If I did bad then they would put me in the lower tracks. If they put me in the lower tracks then it would be harder for me to get into college. Then if I do not get into college it would be a lot harder to get a good job. After all of this I was very happy with the results. I did very good on my test. I felt really good after all of this. This meant I would not be out in the lower tracks. Hopefully I will do good in these classes. It is all part of my goal to have a good future. In conclusion it is always good to set goals for yourself.

  7. Sometimes in life we have to ask ourselves to go that extra mile to achieve our goals in life. You do not always reach success with your goal no matter how hard you try. I have pushed myself before on multiple occasions and I have not always reached my intended goal. On one occasion, I pushed myself almost to a breaking point, in my opinion it was the most I ever pushed myself so far in my life. It was Christmas 2010; I was at my grandmothers for our family Christmas reunion at the time my aunt, uncle, and my cousin had not arrived yet.

We were waiting at my grandmothers for awhile before they arrived at her house. That morning was a terrific Christmas morning my gifts were terrific as usual and my joy was very vibrant. After opening our gifts we got dressed and left for her house. Once we arrived we waited and I helped put out the finger foods. Not long after, they arrived and I helped them bring their gifts in. and the reunion got under way. About two hours in, I had gotten up to get my grandmother a snack from the dinning room. When I came back I put the dish down and turned around where my uncle was sitting. He let out a loud gasp and fell to the floor. My cousin went outside to call an ambulance I followed her out. I pushed myself to comfort her and keep her calm. The whole day was nothing but sadness and craziness. That day my uncle died and I pushed myself to help everyone and support my aunt and cousin. I still am every year and I always will as long as I am needed. As long as I live I will always remember the strength I have inside of me.

  8. many people in our lives will expect us to do things perfectly. for example your parents will want to see really good grades from you. my mom when she saw my report card with 80-90's said she expected more from me (what she actually said). and if you do sports coaches will want you to do you very best. if you do better then you normally do one game then they will expect to see that much more.but other times you have to have high expectations of yourself. in school while your taking a test and you think youre going to fail you probably will. but if you think positively you will pass (most likely). and if your doing something competetive such as a spelling bee then if you expect yourself not to win you wont. so you have to just believe that you can acomplish anything and you can. so i think what professional basketball player michael jordan said was true.

  9. “You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.” This quote was said by the very famous basketball player Michael Jordan. There can be many situations to where you expect more of yourself before you can do them. Such as getting A’s on test, and winning a sports game, or even lifting more in the weight room. All these 3 are personal goals for me. As of right now I may not be able to full fill all the goals. But to pursue these goals I can do multiple things. To get the A’s I want on tests I would have to study. Winning a sports game consist of getting practice. Unlike many I don’t follow practice makes perfect I don’t believe that. Practice won’t make perfect if it’s not perfect. So cause of this I follow perfect practice makes perfect. And to lifting more in the weight room I lift as hard and as long as I possibly can. Also I eat vitamins and eat protein filled foods to rebuild muscles. With these I will be able to full fill all my goals. The drive to full fill goals is not easy for everyone. Many people can say I want to do this or I want to do that but the ones who actually go out and do what they want. This is a very hard thing for people to do and some people actually can’t even do it themselves and need others to push them.

  10. I have been asked many tasks and then I ask my self should I push my self even more and that’s what I do. There has been many time that there I had to push my self a little bit harder in life. At one point I would practice for paintball every week on every Sunday. We would meet up up at a paintball park and make a game plan for that day and it would be very hard to keep up with so we would in courage each other and try and keep up with each other. Later on we talk about joining a tournament in lake-land FL we knew we were ready for the tournament and we knew the teams were really good and played in more tournaments then we have but we knew we were going to win this. So we prepared for it. So we started stepping up are game plan we learned the layout of the field, we started playing to get a lot better for the tournament. At that point we were certin that were going to take this tournament home with us and we never let are hopes down, so found out what teams we are playing and studed how they play and there playing style we knew the week points ther strong point and every thing inbetween. The day of the tournament we were ready at the end of the day we know we played are best as a team and we know we put in the extra time to get better so I think putting in the extra time to get better will pay out in the long run

  11. I think this is truly an inspirational quote. It relates well to life and something we can all learn from. For example i could have learned from this back in 5th grade. I used to play basketball. We had a real good team but i wasent that good. I was scared to shoot because i thought i would miss. I was scared to miss because the coach was mean, he made his son cry in front of the team by yelling at him for messing up during the game. Since i was scared to try i never believed in myself to do good. I remember times we went to practice and since i was the youngest i thought i would do the worst, so when i came time to practice our foul shots i always thought i would miss and i did. I could see people relating this to many other things in life but the two for me that can't help but stand out the most is sports and school work. I related sports to my personal experiences. This is really relatable to school work because if you dont believe you know what to do or question what you know you could screw up. The main point to really take out of this is to believe in yourself and dont doubt.

  12. when I was in 7th grade I was in basic skills language arts. my favorite subject is language arts so I wanted to get my self out of basic skills. I did all of my work and got 90's on all of my tests and quizzes, I even made sure I did good on the New Jersey ask test. it was a lot of work but I did better that year, and Im glad I did. one thing that drove me to fulfill my goal was that I didn't want to sit in an hour and forty minutes of English the next year. and since I got out of basic skills I got to have an elective. the steps I took to fulfill this goal was to do all of my home work, and all of my class work and to really study for each and every one of my tests and all of my quizzes. and I'm glad I did. my grade this year isn't that great and I Definitely need to get to work and bring it up. I need to do what I did last year this year. and get 90's on everything and I need to start doing all of my work. and this Is not just with English it's every class. people including myself need to realize that we're not in middle school any more. all of out grades now go on our records. that colleges look at. I know I want to get into college when I graduate and in order to accomplish that I am going to have to push myself. pushing your self is good, when you push yourself you complete a task that you didn't think possible its a good way to challenge yourself and you feel accomplished getting through high school isn't going to be easy but it's a challenge all of us take

  13. Like micheal jordon said one '' you have to expect things of yourself before you can do them.'' Well once i was scootering with my friends and we went to vets. We were just doing are own thing just learning new tricks and just chillin. Well i was thinking to myself What trick to do. I firgured out What trick to do! It was called a triple whipe. Thats when you spin the scooter deck 3 time around. I was going to do it over a transfer. Thats when you go from one ramp to another. This trick pretty high above my level but i still tried it to get better. I went to go try the trick and i fell really bad. I fell on my knees and scrapped them really bad on the concrete. I got back up and kept trying it. I kept falling and i dont know why Becuase my friends were saying i was doing the rotation riht and i was geting the right amount of speed but the only thing was is that i just had to place my feet on the deck and i couldnt so Thats why i kept falling because i missed places them and landed wrong and falling. So i took a break from doing them since i tried so many times. I got back up after a 10 minute break. i tried agajn and i landed it with one foot!! I got really Happy so i tried it again and i landed it. This was a big accoplishment for me because this is something bigger then somethin i could do. What drive me to do this is tk be better at scooterin and to one day become a professional scooter. The more i do tricks like this the better i will become at scootering. For me to do this stiff is to keep tryin new things everyday and practice it until i landed all the time no matter how hard it will get u never should give up at what you love to do most. Thr result of me keep trying to try new tricks and kewp practicing them is i got better at scootering and hopefully still get better at scooter.

  14. A few years ago I felt like I pushed myself farther than I could handle. It was a while ago but It was at dance. I feel like I took on to many dances at ones. It was my first year doing a solo and I had six other group dances. That meant I was at dance all week from four to nine and on weekends for competition practice for all six dances at an hour to two hours a piece with other dances in between. With all the practice and classes I had no time to do my homework and socialize with my friends. I felt like I had no time to do anything. Eat. Sleep. Breathe. I defiantly felt like I had too much on my plate. At one point I questioned quitting bit my mom and sister helped me realize that I had to set aside time to do all of my work. So instead of watching tv for an hour I would do my homework first then do my homework. What drove me to push through all the feelings of wanting to quit was the fact that I love to dance. That its my passion and what I live for. The fear of losing all of my friends and failing school overcame my love for dance and all I had to do was push that out of my head. The result was that I kept dancing and I did fine in school and kept all of my friends. To this day I still use this same plan. Homework comes before any entertainment. This shows that taking on to much and being over worked doesn’t mean you have to give up something that you love it just means you have to plan things in more depth. Eventually things will work out for you.
